How to have a Full Body Orgasm

Orgasms are one of the best things in life. They're good for your head, your health, your heart and your happiness, and they're completely free! While we've written about ways to make your orgasm even stronger and last even longer, did you know there are ways to orgasm so that it can be felt in parts of your body you didn't think they could be? Our sexpert explains how to have a full body orgasm.

What is a full body orgasm?

It's basically exactly what it sounds like. An orgasm that goes beyond the genitals and is felt in your arms, legs, belly, head, face, tips of your toes... everywhere! It something you can achieve on your own or together with a partner and, once you've mastered the techniques is something you can do for yourself almost any time or anywhere (with appropriate appropriateness obviously).

While a full body orgasm can take a bit of time and patience to work out, it is absolutely worth it and is possible for anyone regardless of if they have a penis or a vagina.

It's Tantra, Baby

Ah tantra. The hippy dippy sex stuff that Sting used to go on about in the 90s. For a lot of people it can seem a little bit "out there" and I totally get that, but, if you strip it back from a lot of the "hippy dippy" language that surrounds it, you'll find a really interesting, deeply personal practice that has the ability to change your sex life into something incredibly powerful and connective. Tantra focuses on your chakras which, in basic terms, is just another word for the energy that flows through us as living creatures, and, more specifically, the energy of Kundalini, which originates at the base of the spine and is a source of almost all our movements and feelings throughout the body, especially our genitals.

While it can definitely take a while to learn, and to break through some of the barriers we've subconsciously built around accessing that energy, it isn't impossible and is absolutely worth it in so many aspects of our lives, not just sexually.

Open up to yourself

It may sound a bit obvious to some, but being in tune with, and listening to your own body can actually be tricky to many of us. With the constant noise of everyday activity, thoughts, stresses and outside interruptions and influences, just stopping and taking in your own self can be an almost impossible task, but it doesn't have to be. The very first step in Tantra is just that. Taking the time to really focus on your inner feelings and energy. Even just five minutes sitting in a quiet room with your eyes closed listening to, and focusing on, your breathing can help centre us and allow us to listen to that internal message. So next time you have some time to spare to masturbate, or play with your partner, follow some of these steps and see just how different an "aware" orgasm can be.

Breathe it in

The first thing you need to do is focus on your breath and breathing and begin to connect it to parts of your body. You can do this alone or with someone else. If you're with a partner, it's best to start sitting facing each other so you can keep eye contact when needed, and share each other's energy as it begins to flow.

Breathe in and feel your feet and your legs.  Let that deep and steady breathing travel up your legs into your pelvis and belly. Feel the centre of your body and let that energy flow into your chest, down your arms and up, into your face and head. Picture these parts of your body filling with light and energy and purpose.  Feel every inch of you and then try and focus that energy onto your genitals and feel the power of all of your body's electricity centred there but flowing out towards every corner of your body.

Move with it

As you breathe and feel the energy begin to flow start to rock back and forth on your hips. Let the visualising of that energy act like a rope of music swaying and dancing through you, pulling your body to its whim and taking you with it. Start to squeeze your pelvic floor muscles (yes all genders have them) by gently, yet purposefully, squeezing the pelvic muscles in time with your breathing in and out. Let all of that sensation and energy combine together into one flowing movement and feeling.

Touch it all

Touch is such an important part of connectivity whether to ourselves or someone else and in Tantra and other sacred sex practices it is no different. Massage and gentle strokes will help bring that energy into a more corporeal light and you will find, when with a partner, your breathing, your touch and your movements will all start to mirror and shadow each other. For the most part, and especially at the start, it's important to stay away from directly touching the genitals. Try the inner thighs or buttocks instead. Massage down the arms and gently touch their face. If you do go down into the genital areas don't play there for too long. Listen to and feel their breathing so that you can move away before it gets to a point of no return. We've spoken in this blog before about edging, this is basically that but with a little more mindfulness in place.

Noises are key

This is where some people start to back off and feel a bit self conscious and exposed and stop the practice but it's an absolutely vital part of not only connecting all the energy you're building up but also in breaking down the internal shame and taboos we've created in ourselves about sex. While making noises during intercourse and sexual play with other people can be a little easier, we're often not as vocal when playing solo but we really should be. While you're breathing and focussing on that sexual energy, so too should you make any noise you feel like making in the moment you need to make it - regardless of if you're alone or with your partner. Groan. Gasp. Grunt. Guttural moans from deep within. Feel every vibration of your vocalisations entwine with that energy and your breath and let it flow and fill you and consume you. You will usually find that the lower sounds fill you deeply and low in your body, and the higher sounds move higher in the body and spread the energy around like sparks.

Put all these techniques into play

Now you've learnt those mindfulness techniques that will connect all those feelings and energies together it's time to put them into your sexual playtimes. Taking the time and focus to make sure your partner is on that same level as you, and understanding how your own body works will help you achieve feelings and sensations within you that can last hours and even days! With the right training it's even possible for penises to achieve not only those elusive multiple orgasms many vaginas can enjoy but also orgasm without ejaculations which, as many penis owners will tell you, is often the end of sexual play, so allowing you to play for hours and hours even beyond orgasm.

Learn more but be mindful

If you're interested in learning more and taking a deeper look into sacred sex practices I would absolutely recommend you look around for workshops and tutorials in your area or online, but will also stress it is vitally important to research the who and what and why of your tutors.

Unfortunately, like a lot of "wellness" type stuff that has its roots in ancient cultures, Tantra has been taken over by rather loud voices who can make the whole thing seem like you need to move to Mullumbimby, stop vaccinating your kids, and eat nothing but rotten fruit as it falls from a tree.

While this may be the case for some, Tantra and all forms of it is far bigger and deeper than any white dude with dreads can explain at a local drum circle and, in a lot of cases, these snake-oil salesmen do far more harm to a person's sexual openness than good. So do your research, find a Tantric workshop that will work for you, and find out just how good your body can feel.

Have you managed to achieve a full body orgasm? We'd love to hear about it in the comments.

I think Ive experienced a few - I go to a wonderful lady who is in her 70's and has massaged me fir years she talks of gentle breath technique and a silver thread to be chased and sought - it was all a bit weird and for the first few years thats all it was and then one day she made me orgasm ... it was a journey part of which I had to stop writhing and moving as I came to orgasm - I had to be still and let it wash over me - I must say it was a unique experience and as I say I did feel an energy flow from my shoulders down my chest until it erupted literally from my penis pretty unique actually ...

I am a single (divorced) older guy who believes older women have got it in spades, well those who love and understand men. As you know our virility declines as the years go by so I have learned to give lots of foreplay, long full body sensual, relaxing massages in fact, with amazing almost no touch body trembling tantra endings. And then I get my reward as we move into penetration, At this time I prefer her on top, I am average but a few women have told me how big I am and that their orgasm (with penetration) went right through their body, which is the first time for them. I seriously have heard, "My best experience ever", and they asked me why? Maybe they were trying to make me feel good but their orgasms were body shaking. I have no clue and the only difference is the full body massage with the Tantra ending before actual sex. So I totally confer about the full body orgasm, it is the greatest gift you can give to your woman, it requires your time, verbal cues and ability to get in tune with her body. You will be rewarded no end. I have even been sent their friends who want to experience this amazing peak pleasure sensation too.
