Everything you need to know about CBD lube

What is CBD lube?

For those reading who may not be sure what CBD lube is, it's a sex product that has been made from cannabis oil and claims to create a sort of "stoned", and therefore more heightened, sensation in the vagina to enhance pleasure, increase orgasm time, and enhance all the good, tingly stuff sex can bring. I will say now that the word “lube” is a little bit of a misnomer, as it really is more like a pre-lube lube (or the foreplay to foreplay), meaning that you apply it to the area around 20 to 30 minutes before you really want it to be kicking in, as it can take a while for it to start to take effect.

Is the hype about CBD lube true?

Well for all intents and purposes, and going on mostly anecdotal reports and reviews around the place, yes it pretty much does exactly what it advertises.

The reason I can't be any more specific in a personal sense is because unfortunately I have not been able to try it. This is because you cannot really get it in Australia unless you know someone who knows someone who can send it to you via OS, and who is willing to break the law in order to send it to you.

However, in saying that, I have spent a bit of time looking into it and it really does sound like a pretty exciting way to enhance your sex life in a bunch of ways.

Unfortunately, due to laws surrounding cannabis, and a kind of disinterest in the scientific world about women and women's sexuality, science has been a little bit behind in the research, but fortunately, on all fronts, this seems to be changing. With the legalisation of the plant across many different countries and states, research into the medical properties of cannabis has begun to really take off throughout the world, as has research, conversations, and education about women's sexuality and all that goes along with it.

How does CBD lube actually work?

When it comes to the science and research around cannabis lubricant as opposed to the medical benefits of the drug, we’re still a little bit behind the times, but according to the research done by several different companies that make it (and the scientist who work for them) cannabis lube works twofold.

Firstly there is the fact that cannabis is what is called a “vasodilator” which means regardless of how it is taken into the body (ingested, smoked, or topically applied) it naturally increases blood flow, which is, as we all know, vital to genital arousal, and secondly it works as a relaxant, taking tension and stress off soft tissues (which is really great news for the large number of women who experience pain and/or discomfort during sex due to conditions such as endometriosis or vaginismus) and also increasing vaginal lubrication which is always a good thing for good sex.

Most of the brands who sell it make it into the form of an oil so it’s important to remember that oil can degrade latex and make condoms ineffective, but there are a few who make a water-based product, that’s also a bit more “lubey” than the others.

For those of you wondering about the effect it may have on the rest of your body (do you get high from it) the answer is, if you use it in the way you are directed to use it, then mostly no.

I say mostly because there is a little bit of a caveat.

You see, applying it to the genitals means it will only work on those areas, it won’t get absorbed into the brain the way it would if you were to eat it… Which is where the caveat comes in… Some people have absolutely recorded getting proper stoned off it after going down on their partner who was using it on their genitals, so you should be a little bit aware of that if you ever manage to get your bits on some.

Can I buy CBD lube in Australia?

With the ACT being the first state in Australia to lead the charge into decriminalisation, the rest should hopefully start to catch up soon and who knows, maybe you’ll be seeing it on the shelves of your local adult shop sooner rather than later. Until then, if you happen to live around the ACT and have access to the plant itself, there are a few recipe sites online that can help you create your own batch, but it would have to be for personal use rather than anything commercial at the moment due to the laws around the drug trade.

Good luck, happy lubing, and, for those of us living in other Aussie states, maybe write to your local MP and ask them to join the fight in legalising this incredible plant so that one day all of us might get to have a try!

Isn't Bella Aqua D’Amore water based and can be used with rubber without fear of the protection breaking or your expensive latex deteriorating?
Great article even if it is anonymous...

All my life I have had an aversion to coconut, the taste, the smell. Is there any other oil you could recommend?

Going to really throw out a crazy idea. Would a bud infused in oil have the same effect? I am very curious if anyone has done that. Kind of like an Amsterdam brownie for the pussy.

If it's like medicinal Cannabis then it will have no THC in it which is probably the case so it's not like hash oil. You're not going to lick a lovely ladies pussy and get high :). Thanks again for the interesting article.
