I want to share a story as an idea rather than a claim, something that came about unexpectedly and unfolded over time.

Some years ago, I was having lunch at my local sports club when two young women asked if they could join me at my table. I agreed, and we began talking casually — about work, hobbies like fishing and camping, and everyday life. They were both studying nursing and were about to begin their second year. The conversation was relaxed and respectful.

One of them asked a few personal questions — my age, whether I was retired, whether I was married, and if I drove. Before leaving, she asked if she could have my number, explaining that her family lived far away and it would be nice to have someone older and grounded she could talk to if she ever needed advice. I agreed.

A few weeks later she contacted me and asked if I would be at the club on a particular day. When we met again, she mentioned a small maintenance issue in her flat that her landlord had been slow to address and asked if I would mind having a look. I agreed and followed her there. It turned out to be a simple fix.

While we were talking afterward, the conversation became more personal. She spoke openly about how difficult it was, as a young woman, to find male companionship that felt safe and uncomplicated. She said she felt comfortable with me and valued my calm nature. She asked, very directly but respectfully, whether I would consider being a discreet companion — someone she could spend time with when she felt lonely.

I was surprised by the honesty of the request, especially at my age, but she was clear that comfort, trust, and discretion mattered more to her than anything else. We agreed to take things slowly and see how it felt.

Over time, a quiet, private arrangement developed — one based on mutual respect, consistency, and care. There was no drama, no pressure, and no confusion about boundaries.

Later on, she introduced me to a close friend who was also part of her world. After open discussion and clear agreement between everyone involved, the arrangement expanded in a way that remained respectful and discreet. There was never secrecy between them, and nothing was done lightly.

This continued for several years while they completed their studies. When the time came for them to move on professionally, we sat down together and spoke honestly about bringing that chapter to a close. To most people, I was simply seen as an older, grandfatherly figure in the background.
