The Laird has one of the longest consistent operating records for a gay hotel anywhere in the world. This friendly, men-only pub is where hairy, beary and masculine men socialise, drink and play. Its bar is reasonably priced and the regular underwear, leather and sportswear nights are immensely popular.

It combines an industrial look with a cruising atmosphere, and boasts one of Melbourne's best beer gardens. It is the only hotel in Victoria to have been granted 'Male Only' status by the Australian legal system in deference to it's history and service to the gay community.
