BENTSTIX, Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Field Hockey Club Association Incorporated was established in February 1996 during the Mardi Gras Festival. At this time we formed the first Gay and Lesbian Field Hockey Club in the world. The Club is active mainly in the summer, when we play in a mixed (male and female) field hockey competition at Little Bay as part of the University of NSW competition. We have approximately 50 members.
We aim to provide opportunities for Gay and Lesbians to play competitive field hockey in an accepting and supportive environment. We also aim to foster pride in our achievements as we represent Sydney in tours and tournaments in Australia and abroad. Finally we aim to promote gay and lesbian field hockey both locally and internationally in an effort to build participation world wide.
