The Road to Sex & Sexiness in 2017

The word

Well, gang, we made it! We made it through what could possibly be one of the most tumultuous years in recent history. Major celebrity deaths (I'm still not over Bowie, and I don't think I ever will be), huge political upheavals (Brexit, Trump, the resurgence of Pauline), more mass shootings in the US, and terrorist attacks around the world.

It's been a big one, and I think among all the shit and debris we have kind of forgotten to look on the bright side. So here is my plan: I am going to make my new years resolutions one of positivity and fun. Of sex and sexiness. Of looking after myself and my loved ones.

I am going to enter 2017 with a spring in my step, a wiggle in my walk, and a view to having the best and sexiest year ever.

Won't you join me?

Letting Go of Self Shame

Even the most confident and switched on of us struggle with self esteem and self forgiveness. Whether it's regretting a one night stand, or berating yourself for buying the extra nuggets, we all do it and it's time to let go. It's time to realise that we deserve pleasure and treats. And it's totally okay to eat the extra nuggets or have a night of wild abandon with someone you'll never see again. Give in to hedonism once in a while. You deserve it!

Consciously Sex Positive

We've talked about sex positivity before and what it means and there's always room for improvement. Make a conscious effort to think more positively about all things sex, and by that I mean not just about your own sex. Let's stop shaming people who sex differently to us. Let's stop hating on naked celebrities and outlandish outfits. If someone wants to vagina flash, or twerk, or whatever they do that makes you cringe a little, just let it go. It's not your vagina they're flashing. Move on. Celebrate their uniqueness and their quirks. After all, it takes all sorts to make the world spin, why hate on those having a great time for themselves?

Make Time For Intimacy

PUT DOWN YOUR SCREENS! This is something I personally need to do more of. I am a Facebook, Netflix, Twitter addict and I know it can often get in the way of intimacy with the loves in my life. Set up screen-free date nights. Make the effort to share stuff about your day with the people who mean the most to you. Keep phones and tablets out of the bedroom on certain nights. Be there. Be present. Kiss. Touch. Hug. Look up from your internet life and make real time for your real life.

Know Your Own Body

This is not just a sex thing. This is an everything thing. Be aware of your health, your fitness, your body's signals. Learn a new physical skill. Go to yoga. Take up pole dancing. Do a tantric sex course. Buy sex toys you've never used before. If you're  a bullet on the clit girl, try something to use internally, guys try a sleeve masturbator or maybe a prostate massager if you haven't before. Learn how to breathe properly, learn to stop, take stock, and enjoy the skin you live in. It is truly beautiful and unique and all yours!

Do a George Costanza

If something isn't working the way you want and it's a regular thing, like you're always attracting the wrong type of partner, or you're stuck in jobs or a career path you hate. You know what I mean, you keep on keeping on doing the same thing and you always end up at the same place that doesn't really make you happy? Try doing what George did in Seinfeld. DO EVERYTHING OPPOSITE! Just try it for a day or so. Always order red wine? Try white. Applying for an office job? Look for an outdoors one. Always date professionals in suits? Look for a tradie. Like big boobed blondes? Try a petite brunette. Just stepping outside your comfort zone and what you're used to can be a huge way to change your outlook and perhaps garner different results.

So there's my list, feel free to make some or all of them yours too, and I'd love to hear some of your sexy new year’s resolutions in the comments too!

And a happy, sexy new year to you Matchmakers!

I think I should take a leaf out of Eva's book. Just moved to Tas and wonder if I can find new friends to read from the same page. Go for 2017.

Agree, knowing your own body is so much the key to great sex and throwing away all your inhibitions. I am who I am and I love it! I want others to love it too. Hedonism is the key, though a little pain with the right friend just may be fun.

Push those boundaires. Why have any boundaries at all? Isn't sex all the wilder when you know you are doing something others may think is naughty?

What great advice and perfect timing for this first day of 2017.
Feeling good about your body, putting the screen away for a while and stop dumping on others, I couldn't have put it better myself.

I think people are becoming more judgmental these days and we need to be more accepting of the eccentric, the quirky and those who just do things differently.
My New Years resolution is to surround myself with lovely interesting people and to enjoy new ways of doing things and seeing things from others perspectives. I also plan on having a great time in the process by exploring new sexual fantasies and developing new ones.
I just need to find a lovely lady who would like to join me on my adventure. I know there's one out there somewhere.
    Happy New Year.

Surrounding yourself with lovely and interesting people! Yes!
What a great resolution. Which, in turn, will help with all the others of seeing the world from different perspectives and all the new sexy stuff.
Good luck in your quest for love!!
Hopefully we at AMM have apart to play in that!
      :)

    Great article.
Time to live! As sad as the celebrity deaths are, it reminds me of my own mortality and a reminder to live my life to the full. To be kind and loving, not only to those close to us but also those we come into contact with. The politicians will come and go, some leaving destruction in their path and others (somewhere I hope) will do good. But my life is my life and I want to make the best of it. I'd much rather spread love and joy than gloom and doom.
Thanks Eva for a great article to kick of 2017, the sexiest year ever seen.

      Absolutely!
Spreading love and joy, even within our own little pockets of the universe is an important part of love and joy in the bigger picture.
      Have a wonderful 2017!!
      xx
